There is truly nothing like a fresh summer peach! Their sweet, juicy flesh just bursts in your mouth. I’m typically a summer strawberry girl, but this summer, I’ve been all about the peaches.
A new small organic market (with all local produce!!) recently opened next door to the yoga studio where I’ve been doing my teacher training, & I sneak over between classes to grab a fresh pressed juice & to take inventory of the peach situation. I simply must have my fill before summer’s end! Needless to say, I’ve been stocking up.
I’m certainly content eating my peach plain as an afternoon snack, but I’ve also been enjoying them sliced & served with blueberries & granola over coconut yogurt, sliced into a kale salad with a sweet tahini dressing, & in my morning smoothies.
I’ve been feeling super sluggish in the mornings, & having a terrible time getting up & out the door to work. Once I get to work, I hit the ground running & don’t stop until the day is done. I am desperate for fuel, & I’ll admit that my coffee habit is back in full effect. It doesn’t help that there is a keurig machine in one of the teacher’s classrooms next door. I am trying to limit myself to one coffee a day ~ any more than that & I cannot sleep ~ but some days are a two cupper! I know that a healthy breakfast is key, so I am trying to bump up my smoothies to make them a bit more substantial & nutritious. One of my favorite ways to do this is adding in some superfoods & green powders. My current favorite green powder as suggested by my ayurvedic mentor, is Vitamineral Green which, in my opinion, sets the standard for all other green powders.

You can start with one teaspoon daily & work your way up to 1-2 Tablespoons. I recommend easing into it, as it definitely gets everything “moving.” One Tbsp. is perfect for me at this point!
I also added chia seeds & hemp seeds to the smoothie to enhance the protein content & its superfood powers! When blended into a smoothie, hemp seeds add a bit more creaminess, in addition to Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids which reduce inflammation, & enhance brain & heart health. And I love to add antioxidant rich chia seeds to help keep me full & sated through my busy mornings.
- 1 organic peach, pitted
- 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
- ½-1 frozen banana
- 1.5 Tbsp. Greens Powder
- 1 Tbsp. Hemp Seeds
- 1 Tbsp. Chia Seeds
- Put all ingredients into a high speed blender & blend until smooth & creamy.
- Sprinkle a bit of hemp, chia seeds & coconut flakes on top.
