I’ve just returned from a whirlwind weekend up in Northern California & of all the places I wanted to experience in the Bay Area, Cinnaholic was on the TOP of my list!
You better believe I didn’t want to leave without going there & for a brief moment I didn’t think it was gonna happen! Yikes! But I made it & I’m thanking my lucky stars!!!
Who wouldn’t be lured in by the thought of a hot, buttery, sticky, sweet, cinnamon roll? And vegan to boot? I mean, really? I had to see what the hype was all about & cross it off my “bucket list!”
Cinnaholic, opened about a year ago by a darling young husband & wife team, serves up hot, fresh, out-of-the-oven gourmet cinnamon rolls is one of the Bay Area’s first all-vegan Bakeries. What’s not to love about this concept? Their shop is quaint & clean, & I loved the laid back “punk rock meets pin-up vibe,” SF’s own Greenday on the stereo & the walls lined with pictures of Johnny Cash. One couldn’t miss the divine aroma of fresh baked cinna-goodness wafting out the door & onto Oxford Street, inviting in the passers-by, vegan & non vegan alike!
You can choose from several “specialty rolls” or make your own creative customized concoction by choosing from their extensive frosting & topping bar!
We were a little overwhelmed by the options, as the possibilities were endless & beyond! P wanted something “chocolatey,” so we decided to share the “Oreo Explosion…”
& his parents enjoyed the “Blackberry Pie…”
The consensus??? I WANT MORE, MORE, MORE!!!!!!
Cinnaholic manages to do to vegan cinnamon rolls what Babycakes NYC did to vegan cupcakes! These are insanely good – dairy, egg & cholesterol free, low in saturated fat, sweetened with evaporated beet juice, & non-hydrogenated – without compromising any of the sinful decadence of what most people would consider “the real thing.” Honestly, no one would ever know & they don’t have the word vegan visible on the menu, so perhaps people really don’t know! I did recognize what I thought to be Earth Balance in the frosting, so it can be apparent to those with discerning palettes that these are, in fact, vegan!
While my taste buds are screaming for another, it’s a darn good thing I live an 8 hour drive away, as, at least for now, I can spare my waistline. If local, I could foresee this place becoming a frequent haunt & definite problem for me! Rumor has it they’re hiring & I could use another part-time job! Uh-oh! Come & get it!!!
Yes, I’m Vegenista, & I am officially a Cinnaholic!
